Planning and Preparing for the procedure

  1. Read carefully the instructions and literature you will be given at the consultation. If you are unable to comply with all of our instructions, both written and verbal, please phone us to discuss any difficulty with compliance.
  2. Enlist and ensure the presence and assistance of your spouse, partner or carer to drive you home and be with you for the day and night following the procedure.
  3. Thoroughly shave, the total scrotal hair and surrounding pubic area as shown to you at the consultation.
  4. Have a plentiful supply of ice at home for use in an icepack after the operation for a minimum of 4 hours.
  5. Because a sedative is used during the procedure, the patient must not drive a motor vehicle, operate machinery, or make important decisions on the day of the procedure as his judgement may be impaired.
  6. Patients require close supervision by a responsible adult for a minimum of 12 hours after the operation.
  7. Plan to rest for two days after the operation. Avoid strenuous physical activity and sport for 14 days after the operation.
